Yooo, TikTok just gave creators a whole new reason to pay attention to the comments. The comment section is starting to become its own little social platform. ?
TikTok just announced Voice Comments, Comment Polls, Photo Carousels and Live Photo Comments. Basically, commenting on TikTok is about to be WAY more than just typing something under a video.
YOU CAN LEAVE VOICE COMMENTS NOW
Instead of typing everything, TikTok is letting people record voice comments up to 60 seconds long. Other users can tap the comment and actually hear what you said.
Voice Comments are for accounts 18+ and are rolling out globally over the next month.
CREATORS CAN PUT POLLS IN THE COMMENTS
This might actually be one of the most useful updates for creators. You can comment on YOUR OWN video and turn that comment into a poll with up to 5 choices.
Think about how you could use that.
“What song should I drop next?”
“Which fit better?”
“What video y’all want next?”
Instead of sitting there trying to guess what your audience wants, ASK THEM. ? Comment Polls are already available globally.
PHOTO COMMENTS ARE GETTING BETTER TOO
TikTok is also adding Photo Carousel Comments, which let people post up to 9 photos in ONE comment. So instead of dropping one picture at a time, you can basically tell a whole little story inside somebody’s comment section.
They're also adding Live Photo Comments. That means supported photos can actually show that little moment of movement instead of only appearing as a still picture.
Live Photo Comments are available globally now, while Photo Carousels are rolling out globally over the next month.
CREATORS... USE THIS SHII ?
TikTok says more than 1.7 BILLION comments are posted on the platform every day. That's 1.7 billion opportunities for people to interact with content instead of just watching and scrolling away.
So don't just post your video and disappear.
Run a poll. Ask your audience something. Respond to people. Give viewers a reason to actually participate in what you're building.
Because TikTok isn't just giving us more ways to comment.
They're giving creators more ways to turn viewers into a community.
And at this point, the comment section is becoming content too.
