The White House Is Officially Calling AI "Super Intelligence" Now

Yooo, the White House just signed an executive order that changes what the government calls AI.

From now on, it's Super Intelligence. ?

EXECUTIVE ORDER 14434

Signed September 29, 2026, the order directs every executive department and agency to use "Super Intelligence" and "SI" in place of "Artificial Intelligence" and "AI" in official correspondence, public communications, websites, reports, and policy documents.

The order even says the government will not acknowledge the usage of "AI" in any applicable setting.

WHY THE NAME CHANGE

The White House says today's frontier systems do more than imitate human intelligence. They amplify human ingenuity and unlock new forms of creativity across science, medicine, and nearly every other field.

So "artificial intelligence" doesn't capture it anymore. The government is calling this a new era of Super Intelligence.

SAME TECH, NEW NAME

Here's the important part. The order defines "Super Intelligence" as the same technologies covered by the existing legal definition of artificial intelligence.

Nothing about the actual technology changed.

Old documents, regulations, and contracts stay as they are. This change applies going forward.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Within 60 days, the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology has to submit proposed legislation to Congress to establish an official federal definition of "Super Intelligence."

REAL TALK

The words changed. The machines didn't.

But when the federal government officially rebrands AI as Super Intelligence, that tells you how serious this moment is.
