Yooo, the smart glasses race is about to get a LOT more interesting.
Samsung's first Android XR smart glasses are reportedly launching in November 2026, according to a new report from 9to5Google citing The Korea Herald and a Samsung official.
There's still no exact release date or price, but this gives us the clearest launch window yet.
SAMSUNG IS COMING AFTER THE SMART GLASSES MARKET
These aren't expected to be huge VR glasses or a headset strapped to your face. Samsung's first models are display-less smart glasses designed to look and work more like normal eyewear.
Samsung and Google are working with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster on different styles, giving the glasses actual eyewear brands behind their designs.
The glasses will include cameras, microphones and speakers, with Google Gemini providing the AI experience.
WHAT CAN THEY ACTUALLY DO?
Samsung and Google have already shown features including hands-free photos and videos, real-time translation, turn-by-turn navigation, calls, texts, notification summaries and contextual Gemini assistance.
Basically, you should be able to look at something and ask Gemini about what you're seeing without pulling your phone out.
Samsung previously said the glasses could provide up to 9 hours of battery life, with the charging case providing multiple additional charges.
AND THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE LIGHT
According to the new report, Samsung is targeting a weight that's up to 5 grams lighter than the base Ray-Ban Meta glasses, which weigh around 51 grams.
That matters because smart glasses aren't very useful if they're uncomfortable after wearing them for an hour.
Samsung's glasses have also recently appeared in FCC filings, another sign that the hardware is getting close to an actual consumer release.
NOW WE HAVE AN ACTUAL SMART GLASSES BATTLE
Meta has spent years building out Ray-Ban Meta.
Now Samsung and Google are preparing to bring Android XR + Gemini directly onto your face.
And unlike a phone where you're constantly opening apps, the real battle with smart glasses is going to be who can make AI useful while you're actually living your life.
November could be when we finally get to see Samsung's answer.
