UBER IS PUTTING CHATGPT WORK IN THE HANDS OF 30,000+ EMPLOYEES ??

Yooo, Uber just made a major move with artificial intelligence, and this one could give us a glimpse of what the future of office work looks like.

The company announced on October 22, 2026, that it's rolling out OpenAI's ChatGPT Work to more than 30,000 employees worldwide.

And we're not just talking about asking ChatGPT a few questions.

Uber wants employees to use AI to handle actual work, from analyzing information to completing tasks across different applications.

WHAT EXACTLY IS CHATGPT WORK?

ChatGPT Work is an AI agent built into ChatGPT Enterprise that can take on complex, multi-step assignments.

Instead of simply answering a question, it can help workers research information, analyze data, prepare meeting briefs, create presentations, and produce finished work.

The platform can connect with workplace tools including:

? Gmail
? Google Drive
? Google Calendar
? Slack

That means employees can work across multiple applications without manually handling every step themselves.

Think about having an AI assistant that can gather information, organize it, and help prepare an actual project.

UBER ALREADY TESTED IT WITH 1,000 EMPLOYEES

Here's what makes this announcement interesting.

Uber didn't jump straight into giving everybody access.

The company first tested ChatGPT Work with 1,000 employees before deciding to expand it across its global workforce.

Now more than 30,000 employees are being included in the rollout.

Uber describes this as its first company-wide deployment of an AI agent platform designed specifically for knowledge work.

In other words, the company is moving beyond experimenting with AI and starting to make it part of everyday operations.

WHAT ABOUT THE EMPLOYEES? ?

Uber says the technology will support departments including finance, operations, marketing, and product development.

Employees will also receive dedicated training, approved integrations, and access to an internal AI skills library.

Meanwhile, Uber's software engineers will continue using OpenAI's Codex to help with coding and development.

The company isn't simply introducing one chatbot for everybody. Different teams will have access to tools designed for different kinds of work.

And that raises a bigger question.

If AI can handle more of the repetitive office tasks, how much will employees' daily responsibilities change?

Uber's announcement focuses on helping employees work more effectively. It does not announce that this rollout is replacing 30,000 workers.

GPT-6.1 SOL IS PART OF THE PLAN

Uber and OpenAI also confirmed that GPT-6.1 Sol will serve as the default model within ChatGPT Work.

The companies say the model offers a balance between advanced performance and cost efficiency.

Employees will also have access to additional OpenAI capabilities, including voice and image generation.

So this isn't just a text chatbot anymore.

Uber is building access to a wider collection of AI tools into its workplace.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE FUTURE OF WORK?

Look at what's happening here.

A major global company is making an AI agent available to tens of thousands of employees, across multiple departments, as part of its regular workflow.

That doesn't automatically mean everybody is losing their job.

But it does show how companies are beginning to rethink the way work gets done.

Tasks that once required hours of collecting information, preparing documents, and switching between applications may increasingly involve AI assistance.

The big test will be whether these tools actually help employees produce better results.

Uber and OpenAI say they plan to share more information about adoption, real-world use cases, and measurable outcomes as the rollout continues.

REAL TALK ?

Remember when ChatGPT first came out and everybody was just asking it random questions?

Now we're watching major companies put AI directly into their everyday operations.

Uber is making ChatGPT Work available across a workforce of more than 30,000 people.
